The Characteristics of the Reformist Discourse in the Tafsīr of Al-Imām Abdul Hamīd ibn Bādīs

Abstract
Abdul Hamīd Ibn Bādīs is a 20th Century prominent Algerian scholar known for his reform in social, religious, political and educational areas. Ibn Bādīs contributed to these areas by adopting a modern interpretation of of the Qur’ān in a suitable way for all types of people the Algerian society. This research aims to deduct the characteristics of the reformist message of Ibn Bādīs. It starts by the biography of Ibn Bādīs, followed by the meaning of the concept of discourse. Finally, discusses, through an Analytical study, the characteristics of the Reformist discourse of Ibn Bādīs. The researcher concludes that Ibn Bādīs’s methodology of the Quranic interpretation, is a modern method that covers almost various aspects of life.
