Main Article Content
Abstract
This study explores the contributions of two prominent scholars namely Ahmad al-Ghernaty and Fadhil al-Samarra’i on a specialized science of “Similarities in the Qur’an”. While the former is the brainchild of this science and the later is its contemporary advocate. However, the study basically highlights two issues: Firstly, the contributions of al-Ghernaty in discovering this science and developing its implications which include his method and style in dealing with Similarities in the Qur’an based on his book "Malak al-Ta'wil", an important reference in this subject; Secondly, the role of Fadhil al-Samarra’i in reviving this very science and the methodology he adopted in his efforts in this connection.
